Title: “Whitewater Rapids"
Year: 2020
Medium: Ceramic / Cast Glass / Light
Description: Sculpture
Style: Contemporary / Abstract
Subject / Inspiration: Water is the most powerful substance on the planet even when it’s not moving. Fast-moving water always has the potential for injury or death by drowning or hitting objects. Fatalities do occur; some 50 people die in whitewater accidents in the United States each year. Although this is an activity I would not participate in, I can’t help but admire the human spirit of all the paddlers who risk everything for the thrill of it all.
Overall Dimensions: 12.25 x 13 x 4 in.
Technique: High fired stoneware, wheel-thrown, altered, hand built, glazed and electric fired in an oxidation atmosphere. Cast glass.
Glass cold work courtesy of Matthew Rademacher.
Predominant Colors: Aqua Blue, white, turquoise
